CTA Scholarship 2005

PROCEDURES

*Student who has worked with a community theater group needs to complete the Scholarship application form including the (75 words or less) essay, and return with:

*Two completed recommendations from people who know the applicant well, one of whom is from the community theater with which the student has been connected.

*To be mailed together (regular mail), postmarked no later than April 15, 2005.

*Upon receipt of application materials, student will be contacted by phone or email

to make an appointment for an interview and audition Saturday May 14th at the Exit7 Theater in Ludlow (exit 7 of the MassPike).

*A five-minute interview will be required of each applicant.

*Following the interview, the applicant will make a presentation of her or his work,

not to exceed five minutes in length, before the Scholarship Judging Panel.

This presentation will count significantly in the awarding of the scholarship.

*A scholarship recipient must be prepared to present the audition piece during the Awards Presentation Banquet held at the close of the CTA One Act Play Festival on June 4th 2005.

*Applicants will be notified by phone/email of the time for presenting their audition pieces which will be on Saturday May 14th at the Exit7 Theater in Ludlow.

All applicants for CTA scholarships with their instructors, are invited to be guests at all performances of the one act plays presented by local community theater groups at the CTA One Act Play Festival June 3 and 4 at the Exit7 theater in Ludlow. This is a nationally recognized state drama festival within Region One of the American Association of Community Theaters. Theater students learn much, not just from the performances, but from the adjudication process, conducted by prominent adjudicators at the end of each play for the benefit of the cast and crews as well as the audience.

Each year for the past twenty eight years, the Community Theatre Association CTA of Western Massachusetts has presented scholarships to graduating high school seniors in our region who plan to attend a recognized institution of higher learning and to major or minor in one of the theatrical arts. You are being asked to recommend:
